True and Free
History unfolds in truths inferred, oft patterned in flight of Hummingbird,
For a thousand years now it’s been told, when clashing cultures met in old
With painted faces your tribes inflict: the Gaels; the Britons; the Angles; the Picts
To rule each other and die for Crown, lineages lost, in blood abound.
For wherever the Falcon flies, relentless as the daily tides,
Without the wisdom of the Owl, our kin’s ideals be disemboweled
But freedom is like the meadow’s Bull, charging ahead of time in full,
The danger is to decathect, become enslaved in misery’s sect,
Under the stars the ancients saw, this firmament in times afar
That freedom gained is freedom loved, earned equal parts with Fist and Dove
Like the Phoenix to rise again, protected best with sword and pen
Truth oft needs a Rooster’s crow, not bloodied sword, nor piercing bow
Words and law will do instead, like Twinned Falcons high overhead
On a day before Chiefs and tabard, sword at rest, still in scabbard
What we say comes from the Heart, liberty and clan must never part.
If then by war or peace it be; forever lasting, we are True and Free!
